It is confirmed today that The Real World 21 season will be filming in Brooklyn New York during the summer of 2008 and airing in early 2009.

MTV just green-lit the 21st season of The Real World series as the contract with Bunim-Murray Productions concluded at season 20.

The reason MTV did this was due to the initial success of The Real World Hollywood season as it is the #1 show on Wednesday’s 10pm to 11pm for 12 to 34 year olds reaching over 44 million viewers as well bringing over 3 million viewers online.

What is interesting to note is that the people cast for the show are to be political activists while during the summer in Brooklyn there is a campaign for the 10th Congressional District.

One of the candidates running for Congress in Brooklyn at this time is Kevin Powell from the 1st Real World season back in 1992 that was set in New York.

Parisa Montazaran from the recently completed season of The Real World Sydney  on MTV mebeliwill be debuting her single “What Is It” of her debut album Intelegance in New York City on Friday May 9th, 2008.

Parisa played ”What Is It“ to Spring Break crowds at nightclubs in Acapulco to test their reaction in March.  The fact the crowd didn’t skip a beat and danced wildly to the song led Parisa to take the next step by bringing it to the Real World of New York City.

The song begins with a Persian theme which morphs into a hip hop beat and comes across as both very professional and catchy, especially in a dance club environment.

The debut itself will be at Club Duvet on 45 West 21st Street (5th & 6th Avenues) in New York City, New York.

It will begin on Friday, May 9th, 2008 at 10:00pm and last until Saturday, May 10th, 2008 at 4:00am.

Ryan Getman, who is accused of sucker punching Danny Jamieson of The Real World Austin, is again facing charges of aggravated assault which can carry up to 20 years imprisonment.

In April 2007 the aggravated assault charges were dismissed as reported on the MM Agency Blog on grounds of double jeopardy since it was argued previously in a motion to revoke his probation from an unrelated theft case.

On Thursday May 1st, 2008 this was reversed by the 3rd Court of Appeals in Austin as reported by The Austin American-Statesman.

This will again revisit the charges incurred in January 2005 as it was aired in the first episode of The Real World Austin when Danny was pulled to the ground by one person and the accused is alleged to have punched him in the face.

University of Buffalo and Hawaii researchers claim that fans of reality TV are more likely than others to accept friends they don’t know on social media sites such as Facebook and Myspace.

This was reported on WebProNews as people watch reality TV shows, such as The Real World, where cast members get more TV time when they create drama and controversy - thus people emulate this on the social networks by building a large friend network of mostly unknown people and then sharing pictures and videos of themselves for attention.

This behavior is more often associated with women, especially by sharing images of themselves with others.

Do you feel this is accurate of fans of The Real World?

I personally feel this is very accurate of the Real World cast members themselves on the social media networks, specifically Myspace.

Will Gill from the MTV Real World Hollywood season told the Detroit Free Press he didn’t take offense when fellow cast member Kim Alexander stated to him that she was “kind of shocked that somebody so cute and nice can come from there.”

Rather than taking quick offence and getting ruffled by perceived ignorance or throwing the race card out early on, Will had the perspective enough to laugh it off by understanding drinking and nervousness prompted such a blunt statement by Kim.

Will’s stable personality along with his good looks provides a general feeling from the paper that he will be a positive representative of Detroit and break away from the stereotypes of a city often associated with crime and urban deterioration.

William states he grew up near 8 Mile in Detroit, made famous by Eminem’s movie of the same title, and was already in the process of moving to Los Angeles before being cast onto The Real World.

Gilbert closes by saying “In no way am I looking for this to boost my music career. I like to get everything on my own. I don’t like anything handed to me.”

Time will tell if The Real World in facts boosts or works toward the negative by sounding a sour note to the evolution of his career in music.
