8 simple rules…

Posted on Nov 29, 2006 by Tyler Duckworth of Real World Key West in Key West, The Duel | 0 Comments

I thoroughly enjoyed both Evan and Beth’s analysis of the events that have taken place lately on “The Duel“. And, not surprisingly, I side with Beth. Beyond the fact that Svetlana and I didn’t always get along on our season, I think, in all fariness, that Fitzy was very lucky in “The Duel” that night. And that isn’t to take anything away from her effort, as she did fight for a long time.

Most viewers don’t realize how much goes on behind the scenes on a challenge, and sometimes, they fuck things up for the castmembers competing. I think Beth’s loss is a perfect illustration of that. Regardless of what you feel about either Beth or Svetlana, Beth did win. These technicalities are killing these challenges for us competitors, while making good TV in the meantime for the viewers. It was very interesting to see Fitzy drop to the ground in tears when she lost, only to be resurrected when she found out that Beth had been DQ’d. Its a shitty little rule, that I imagine will definately come into play later on this season.

When I swam growing up, and in college, DQ’s were part of the game. A false start could eliminate even the toughest, fastest swimmer. But, if I won a race, after the best swimmer had been DQ’d, I’d feel less inclined to be celebratory, knowing that I won, by default.

I personally wanted to see Beth win, because all those bitches in Brazil were so goddamned sketchy, and they literally were afraid of Beth. Why do you think they hated her so much? Because they were scared! Had she not been DQ’d, that would have meant some NASTY duel’s. Let’s list some fun dream duels:

Aneesa vs. Beth:
For all the shit that the people in Brazil talked about Beth’s size, there are some girls there who DEFINATELY rival her in size. Aneesa being one of them. I would have died to see these two go at it. Duel of choice? The Stick Wrestling Bullshit

Kina vs. Jodi:
Known as one of the sneakiest challengers, I would die to see the two of them go against each other. Without the each other, they are weak, together, they are strong. Much like the dark sith of “Star Wars”. (nerd reference) That said, both are FIERCE, in a drag queen kind of way. And I’d love to see the bang-bang sister go against each other. Duel of choice? I can

Robin vs. Diem
Talk about brains vs. brawn. And by brawn, I mean BOOBS. Big ones too! Robin, despite her over-active ADD, is a great competitor. She used to compete as a cheerleader, which means she has focus, drive and a killer ability to leap in the air. Diem, is also a great competitor. A former elite gymnast, her dexterity and focus give her a definate edge. However, she isn’t as physically strong as Robin. Duel of Choice? The Ascender

Hopefully, some of these dream duels may still take place! I’ll be tuning in just like all of you! Happy viewing
