A personal memoir by Ryan Conklin of The Real World Brooklyn on the front lines of Iraq will be available as a book called, “An Angel From Hell”.
“An Angel From Hell” is a hard cover book of over 400 pages priced at approximately $16 as a pre-order on Amazon and available to be released on February 2nd, 2010.
Ryan explains that “An Angel From Hell” is a spin on the name of his outfit, Angel Company from the 3/187th Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans) and often referred to as the Angels From Hell.
The book covers his year long deployment as a member of the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq from September 2005 to September 2006.
Ryan details how he provided security for Saddam Hussein’s trial in Baghdad and then running combat missions throughout the Al Saladin Province near Tikrit as a rifleman, turret gunner, assistant gunner, & RTO.
Writing was an outlet for Ryan Conkin as he released buried emotions good, bad, proud, & ashamed.
He feels “An Angel From Hell” would be a success if it provides a better understanding to what our fighting men and women are doing in Iraq.
