Dave Chappelle will be campaigning on Wednesday July 9th for the former original Real World cast member, Kevin Powell, who is running as the Democratic candidate for Congress in Brooklyn’s 10th Congressional District.
It starts at 7pm at Eugene on 27 West 24th Street in New York City and costs only $50 if under 30 and having a business card, $100 if you are older or not working.
If you want to meet Dave Chappelle you need to spend $1000 and to take a picture with him it will cost you $2300!
Very ironic this campaign is happening in Brooklyn at this time when the new cast members of The Real World Brooklyn season are moving in this summer which leads to my thinking the cast will be involved in Kevin Powell’s campaign - who is closely aligned with Barak Obama.
Salesman Ilan Bracha of The Belltel Lofts, which is housing the Brooklyn cast, is even saying The Real World is boosting his sales.
Ilan states that traffic to the building since the filming announcement has increased nearly 40% and is worth, in his opinion, a couple hundred thousand dollars in advertising, branding, and PR as every bit of press about The Real World Brooklyn will have the Belltel Lofts in it.
He also provided an interesting tidbit about the negotiated contract between MTV and the Belltel Lofts in that they have to mention Belltel and have a shot of the lobby in each episode.

Interesting. I’m thinking of taking my ass over there today to give it a look. Can you do some postings on where they’ll be drinking? I know MTV has to set up places with preferred vendors/locations so they can get free bottle service, etc.
Thanks!

Joanny,
The cast hasnt moved into the Lofts yet, but should be by the end of the month.
Also as far as bar/nightclub arrangements - those havent been finalized to my knowledge - usually the bar/nightclub has to approve cameras entering and in turn the show will display the club name/moniker.
Free alcohol for the cast is generally not a required stipulation of any agreements, but is sometimes provided to the cast upon entering tho with the expectation of tips, which from my knowledge is not often reciprocated.
Hey Mike,
Thanks for all the info. I was just on my way to the lofts since my assumption was that they were filming at the start of this month but I guess they are still making changes to the actual loft. Would you be able to find out from a source about the clubs/bars they would be going to? I also friend requested you on myspace to no availe.
Thanks,
Joanny
Mike,
That works. So let’s say I was to go to the lofts today (which I was considering since the weather is lovely out). I’ll say that I’m not bad looking, but I don’t think they will be too keen on just letting me waltz up to the top floor if i’m not a resident.
Any suggestions or should I just try to charm my way up there?
Well I JUST got back and boy was I a success! It was way too easy. I’m sure it helped that i went alone but I was surprised at just how easy it was for a girl to just go right up. Personally email me for the details. I don’t want to let out TMI…however, I was told by an intern that they were having some issues with the building and might end up not using the place if things continue on this path. Perhaps Caroll Gardens after all?
