sex =biologically-constructed distinction
vs.
gender= socially-constructed

These do *not* always coincide with each other [male sex-type=gendered man, female sex-type=gendered woman], although as a society we tend to see these terms as interchangeable.
Theyre not.

a) Therefore you CANNOT determine a person's "gender" through a chromosome test
.... have u ever heard of the famous Olympic gold medalist in the 1980s (a hurdler or runner, i think) who was stripped of her medal bc she has XY chromosomes? she menstruated, looked like a woman, defined herself as a woman, was treated as a woman, had female primary and secondary reproductive organs... but was stripped of her medal due to some error in her gene-structure. she was GENDERED female yet her CHROMOSOME composition deemed her a "male". she was a WOMAN, no matter what her invisible genetics said. that's how she saw herself, thats how she was treated, thats how she saw the world and how it saw her back... gender is a social construct.
...and this actually happens a lot more frequently that you might think.

b) transgender is NOT a sexuality. You say u distinguish bt transgendered and gay: that is good bc really they have little to do with one another. Some transgendered individuals are homosexual, yes, but Sexual orientation is determined by one's sexual attraction and/or preference of sexual partner. transgenderism is concerned with who an individual personally considers themself to BE, and manifesting their outsides to match who they ARE on the inside. Transgenderism's primary concern is NOT who one is sexually attracted to. u can have a transgender who has a sexual orientation of gay, straight or bisexual.... and who are we to determine how those labels are applied? A person wouldnt (generally) go through the trouble of changing their sex bc of their sexual preference ....

c) "You do not possess female reproductive organs, you cannot menstruate or have a child" ...so is a menopausal female who has had her reproductive organs removed still a woman? This is what youre saying here. According to your definition she's not a woman so who/what is she, then?

Be careful....People need to be more aware of what theyre saying and the EFFECT their words have.

i agree with u 100% as well as commend you for being a proud southern baptist and doing what a TRUE christian ought to do by "loving thy neighbor" (like jesus taught us)....
but i just want to make a small clarification point: The early puritans who came to the colonies were actually running from religious persecution in europe and came here to set up a strict PURITAN state. Anyone believed to not uphold puritan values was exiled from the colony-- which usually meant death.
ironic, isnt it? you'd think that once you were cast out you'd be more accepting of others but apparently this isnt the case.

With all due respect, you are not like every other woman. You do not possess female reproductive organs, you cannot menstruate or have a child. I think people certainly have the right to do whatever they want, including mutilating their bodies, but I have the right to think it is unfortunate and unhealthy. I distinguish between people that are gay, and people that are transgender. I have no problems with people's sexuality, but I find this physical mutilation to be very disturbing. There is a very easy way to find out most people's gender: give them a Chromosone test. Of course I am aware that there are rare instances where people have strange chromosonal results. But very few transgendered persons fall into this category.

Man I think this Real World sucks compared to the past ones. They don't party or do anything exciting. Just seems like everything is so serious. They need a party person like Will or Joey last season.

Remember the Pharisees? They made an ostentatious show of being oh-so-purely religious. I hear the old tones of those old posers every time I witness good Christian believers beating up on gender-variant people.

The Christians adding their snarling, hate-filled remarks to this discussion should ask themselves ...

What would Jesus have done, standing face-to-face with a person who had been betrayed and condemned by society's gender stereotypes? You know the answer.
