It is interesting that The Real World San Diego 2011 cast are here in La Jolla, where I live, so it was easy to keep tabs of where they were in the San Diego area.
As a note, although the MM Agency works with The Real World cast booking them for appearances & lectures, I have nothing to do with casting or production from Bunim-Murray so I stay out of their way in both processes.
I went to the Real World La Jolla house in the Bird Rock area before the cast arrived & spoke with production, while understanding the rules:
- Don’t mention The Real World as they can’t claim to work on the show
- Don’t interact or interfere with the cast during filming, particularly as an agent
- Don’t step on the property without the production invitation or you get a 2 second warning for the off or on duty police to handle matters.
The Real World San Diego cast themselves arrived at the La Jolla house around Friday June 17th, 2011 as they have rules themselves:
- Fines for not coming in on time
- Fines for touching their microphone
- Fines for mentioning “Real World“, “camera crew” & “production“
- Discouraged for interacting with people trying to get “camera time”
- Roof top lights are off at 10pm & off duty police assigned to the house at all times due to complaints & loiterers as reported by the La Jolla Light.
- Bars & locations must get production preapproval & the venue must sign a contract permitting filming, often getting paid to do so.
The Real World La Jolla cast went to Pacific Beach Shoreclub on 4343 Ocean Boulevard San Diego, CA their first weekend of the show, which is actually one of my favorite bars in the PB area, but I was told by bouncers there that they threw them out for some altercation.
Since the 1st Real World San Diego back in 2004 MTV has assigned security with the cast due to the harassment they faced when going out all over San Diego, often with “Go Home Real World” plus some expletives, which has continued with the current Real World San Diego 2011 season.
The cast ultimately ended up at Typhoons on 1165 Garnet Avenue San Diego, CA after getting kicked out of PB Shoreclub, which seems to be the bar they often hang out at.
The locations the Real World San Diego 2011 cast that I can confirm have been to:
- Bird Rock Coffee at 5627 La Jolla Boulevard, La Jolla is nearby their house & often at during off peak business hours
- Extreme Pizza on 834 Kline Street, La Jolla seems to be their food of choice but often simply delivered to the house
- Typhoons at 1165 Garnet Avenue, San Diego seems to be their default bar of choice
- Moondoggies on 832 Garnet Avenue, San Diego visiting a good sports bar in PB
- Millers Field on 4465 Mission Boulevard, San Diego another great bar in PB that has the room to accommodate them
- Firehouse at 722 Grand Avenue, San Diego to check out the upscale bar in PB with a great roof deck
- Bar West on 959 Hornblend Street, San Diego the cast visited this PB nightclub shortly after they arrived
- The Beachwood at 4190 Mission Boulevard another popular hangout bar for the cast closer to Mission Beach
- PB Shoreclub at 4343 Ocean Boulevard, San Diego is likely a 1 and done as they reportedly won’t allow the cast back in
- House of Blues San Diego at 1055 Fifth Avenue, San Diego to watch a concert in downtown
- F6ix at 526 F Street, San Diego to attend the opening night of the downtown San Diego nightclub
- Ivy at 600 F Street, San Diego checking out the upscale downtown San Diego nightclub
- On Broadway at 615 Broadway, San Diego is a large nightclub that the previous Real World San Diego cast in 2003 went to
- Vouyer at 755 5th Avenue, San Diego is another downtown San Diego nightclub the cast visited
- East Village Tavern & Bowl at 930 Market Street, San Diego to bowl drink & eat in downtown San Diego
- Eden on 1202 University Avenue San Diego a GLBT club in Hillcreast
- Tourmaline Surf Park in La Jolla the cast frequents as its near the house
- Hodads on 5010 Newport Avenue, Ocean Beach eating great hamburgers plus a video of the cast there below
Please let me know any other venues you have seen the cast in the comments below as well send any pictures

I find it quite interesting that this "blogger/reporter" knows all these "FINE" details… do something better with your time and look for "REAL" stories instead of following a stupid reality show – report the "REAL NEWS" why don't you???
Alexa,
This is a blog for a business that books the MTV Real World cast hence the post & how I got the details, but I won't claim to be a reporter rather an agent, granted this kind of news pales to greater world events, such as what Dutchess Kate is wearing
Hello, I noticed a typo, it's actually spelled BeachWood – http://www.thebeachwood.com/
thanks!
RCM,
Good catch, fixed it, although I haven't checked that place out yet, but do like its sister bar The FleetWood in the GasLamp downtown.
Douche-bag show showing douches going to douche-bag bars in San Diego.
They were at 976 Cafe
The best cafe everrr in PB.
This video is funny. Why does the one dude cover his face? So stupid.
They were filming at the House Of Blues on 5th on several occasions under the pretense that they were filming a travel show.
They were also at Thrusters bar and Gringo's mexican restaurant; both in Pacific Beach
