MTV disclosed in its press release on Monday that there will be a Real World Hollywood marathon on the 4th of July from 11am to 6pm as Coral provides the commentary through out.
What the press release didnt show was the graph above that was done on GraphJam showing the demise of the music video and increase of The Real World and other “crap”.
The Real World may very well last until 2010 as there are reports that MTV already upped the show for another season, its 22nd, after the upcoming Real World Brooklyn series.
The Hollywood season has seen increased viewership over the previous one in Sydney as there are 12% more people in the 12 to 34 year range and 17% more females of 18 to 24 watching the series, totalling its reach to 74.5 million viewers.
RW Hollywood is the #1 cable program in the Wednesday, 10-11pm time slot among 12 to 34 year olds, and in the weekly top 10 cable telecasts for that same group.

Brandon Schantz, producer and web host for Movies.com, passed away from cancer in last night’s episode 11 of The Real World Hollywood as it first aired on Wednesday June 26th, 2008.
Brandon was helping the Hollywood cast members with an internship as they interviewed people for movie reviews.
Brandon was from San Francisco and graduated from the University of Texas before being diagnosed with lymphoma in the Spring of 2007.
He had surgery for the disease in October before subcumming to the cancer at the age of 27 on December 6th, 2007.
A friend of his from college, Paige Popkin, blogged about his passing and had this to say about him, “Brandon was a special guy. He was kind, funny and a friend to everyone he met. I remember his greatest passions being his family, especially his siblings, his friends and music. It was no surprise to me that Brandon moved to LA and made his dreams come true with his determination and energetic, positive attitude. I feel lucky to have known him and been his friend.”
There was even a concert in his memory at The Roxy in Hollywood on Thursday March 6th, 2008 of which the proceeds went to benefit the Brandon Schantz Memorial Endowment at the University of Texas.
Nick Brown was closest to Brandon and stated that when you see him on stage anywhere and he gives a subtle head nod - he is, ”just saying w’sup to my Buddy Brandon, watching me throw some Nick flava on it.”

There will be two new replacement cast members this week on The Real World Hollywood as Nick Brown and Brittini Sherrod join the cast for the departed Greg and Joey.
Nick seems to follow in Greg’s mold as far as personality and the fact they both went to college in Florida and pursuing a career in modeling.
It is interesting to note that instead of bringing back two males the Bunim-Murray Production staff choose the replacement cast members to be a male and a female.
Each season of The Real World alternates the cast gender ratio of four to three so the tail end of this season flip flops back to the ratio of the Sydney season and the expected four female to three male ratio of the upcoming Real World Brooklyn season.
