The Real World Brooklyn season started filming on August 14th and continue through November 2008 to be aired on MTV in early 2009. The Real World Brooklyn house was confirmed on Monday July 21st, 2008 to be at:
Pier 41
The entrance to the Real World house is the long driveway that leads to Liberty Sunset Nursery and Steves Key Lime Pie. There is a boat motif beached on several rocks on the patio, New York styled street lamps positioned around the deck, and a huge Jacuzzi with views of the East River and the Statue of Liberty. The BellTel Lofts building was originally selected on Friday May 30th, 2008 amongst 24 Brooklyn locations including a penthouse at 116 Third Place in Carroll Gardens. The cast was to stay at the approximately 6,000 square foot two-story penthouse valued at $6 million on the 25th and 26th floors of the building which is located at the corner of Willoughby and Bridge Street. This was to be the smallest dwelling for any season of The Real World series. The BellTel Lofts was built in 1929 and became an offical landmark in October 2004 since it was the former Verizon building hosting the Long Island Headquarters for the New York Telephone Company. Executive Producer Jim Johnston stated that it was selected since it is centrally located in Downtown Brooklyn being between the neighborhoods of Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Boerum Hill, and Fort Greene while also being very close to Manhattan. Due to permit issues at the BellTel Lofts production moved out in late July 2008 to the Red Hook location at Pier 41 in Brooklyn.
